A prime number is any number with exactly two different positive factors. 1. and the number itself. A composite number has at least three different positive factors. The number one is neither prime nor composite. A family has three children. Each of their ages is a different prime number. The Determine the ages of the three children.

Solution

According to the condition of the question

the sum of their age is 41 and the difference b/w two of their ages is 16 .

so the eqn is

2 + x + y = 41 ..........(a)

x - y = 16 ............(b)

subtract (b) from (a) we got

(2 + x + y ) - (x - y ) = 41 - 16

2 + 2x = 57

x = 27.5

Putting the value of (x) for (y)

x - y = 16

(27.5) - y = 16

y = 11.5

Therefor age of family members are = 2 , 11.5 , 27.5
