I am doing an electric field simulation for a lab report. The simulation states that the charge is -1.0 and the mass is 1.0. I have added a monopole and the field lines are towards the monopole therefore are negatve. When I add another monopole, the field lines are the same. The report asks me to discuss the relative velocities of the two monopoles. Can you explain this to me? How would I know?
Solution
A monopole is basically a charged particle in your case a negetive one. When another monopole is added field doesn\'t change , hence it can be considered as a positve one.
Both the particle would have attractive force towards each other.
I would suggest you to use work energy theorem to find the velocities, they will be in same direction , hence can be added to get the final relative velocity.
Hope you have got your answer.
