Direct shear load ps = 5000/5 . Centre of Gravity for the above figure is

Take OX axis along the line of the centres of the rivets and OY axis line perpendicular to the OX axis on the first rivet.

x1,x2,x3,x4,x5= Distances of centre of gravity of each rivet from OY axis, y1,y2,y3,y4,y5= Distances of centre of gravity from OX axis

X1=0,X2=4,X3=4,X4=11,X5=13 , Y1=Y2=Y3=Y4=Y5=0 ,X=(X1+X2+X3+X4+X5)/5 =30/5=6, Y=0 . THERE FORE CENTRE OF GRAVITY =6
