e. Why do you need to follow through on the swing? f. What has happened when a golf shot is hooked? g. Where is the sweet spot on a club and what does it do? h. What is ping and how is it produced?
Solution
e. In order to hit the ball with maximum force, you should make contact while the club is in mid-swing. Following through is letting that energy dissipate slowly rather than trying to force it to stop at the point of contact, which would inevitably require you to adjust your swing or kick before contact.
f. A \"Hook Shot\" is normally a badly hit ball that curves hard left. A hook can be from a hitting the ball with a closed club face, or bringing your upper body around too quickly. A shot that hooks is very hard to control so it is rarely a shot played on purpose.
g. Sweet spot is the exact point on the face where, when you strike a golf ball, the centre of gravity (CoG) of the club head is moving directly towards the CoG of the golf ball. If you strike the ball with the sweet spot of the club, with a square club face and path, the ball will fly straight and true and will travel the maximum distance.
h. PING is an American manufacturer of golf equipment, based in Phoenix, Arizona. Ping was founded by Karsten Solheim. In 1967, he resigned his job at General Electric to develop the PING company.
