Suppose that a beam of electrons is incident on three or more slits. How would this influence the interference pattern?

Solution

The double slit experiment follows the straight line trajectories of the particles like photons or electrons. looped or exotic paths are neglected in this case. Where as in the muti-slit experiments, exoctic path contribution of the particles are observed. These paths are known before but cannot be calculated preciesly using the double slit experiments.

Using feymann path integral formalism the non classical paths are observed. These non classical paths are predicted to contribute to the inference pattern. But the experimental results showed that the one millionth of the central maximum fringe detection probability, which is comparitivly very less. Therefore, there is no much change in the interference pattern. The basic rule of quantum mechanics has been proved but failed to reconcile the theory of relativity.
