Solution

When a pregnant woman is Rh- and is carrying an Rh+ foetus, there is a risk of Rh antibody formation. For this to occur there has to be an exchange of blood between the mother and the foetus.Usually ,the 1st pregnancy will result in a healthy baby.By the time the mom\'s body reacts as a defense mechanism, the baby is out. When the mother is not treated and is pregnant for 2nd time, the Rh antibodies present in the mother\'s blood stream will come in contact with the baby\'s blood through the placenta and cause death of it\'s RBC\'s.This will result ia a condition known as agglutination and haemolytic disease of the newborn and cause the baby to be hypoxic and anemic as destruction of his RBC occurs. Therefore ,to prevent this a serum called RhoGAM containing anti-Rh agglutinins will mask the fetal\'s RBC in order to prevent the mom\'s immune system from reacting and therefore saving the little baby.
