Q1 Find the distance that the earth travels in one day in it
Q1) Find the distance that the earth travels in one day in its path around the sun. Assume that a year has 365 days and that the path of the earth around the sun is a circle of radius 93 million miles.
Q2) if a weight hanging on a string of length 4feet swings through 4degrees on either side of the vertical how long is the arc through which the weight moves from one high point to the next high point?
Q3) find the length of an arc on a circle of radius 5 corresponding to an angle of 45degrees (give exact answer as a fraction not a decimal approximation)
Q4) how far does the tip of the minute hand of a clock move in 35min. If the hand is 8inch. Long?

Solution
Q1) earth travels in circle of circumference pi * diameter.
Diameter is 93 million miles, so the circumference = (pi) * (93 million miles) * 2
Divide the circumference into 365 equal parts, and each one is how far the earth travels in a day.
(pi) * (93 million miles) / (365 days) = 1,60,000 miles/day
Q2) weight moves 4 deg on either side, it means weight moves 8 deg from one end to other end
radius = 4 feet
Arc length = radius* angle in radians
= 4*(8*pi/180)
=0.558 feet
Q 3) find the length of an arc on a circle of radius 5 corresponding to an angle of 45degrees
Arc length = radius* angle in radians
= 5*( pi*45/180)
= 5pi*9/36
= 5pi/4
