1A power transformer has two primary windings connected in s

1-A power transformer has two primary windings connected in series: one whose voltage and current ratings are 50 V and 1 A, respectively, and the other whose voltage and current ratings are 100 V and 1 A, respectively. Calculate the power rating of the transformer.

2-What happens to the waveform of the magnetizing current of a power transformer as the transformer primary voltage is increased and the transformer becomes more and more saturated? What is the effect on the harmonic content of the transformer magnetizing current?

3-What are the effects of saturation on the magnetizing current and no-load power losses of a power transformer?

4-What are the advantages and disadvantages of operating a power transformer with little or no saturation?

5-What are the rms voltage and current characteristics of magnetic material that is in saturation?

6-Why is excitation current waveform not sinusoidal?

7-Discuss how you would determine the power lost in the transformer with wave shapes that are not sinusoidal?

If you could write it throught computer instead of hand writing that will be a great.

Solution

1 Ans) As they are connected in series max current is min(Transformer 1 and 2) i.e 1 A

Voltage division depends on Magnetising inductance and its reactance and other parasatics as they are not given

Minimim of 2 voltages is safe i.e 50 V

so power rating is P=V*I=50*1=50 W

2) When transfer become saturated its magnetising current becomes more and more peaky nature becoming closer to impulse response.

The harmincs components will increase wnen transformer going to saturation ,more harmonics become stronger as voltage increases

3) The saturation of core lead to peaky waveform nature of magnetising current caused by increase in 3rd harmonics and other odd harmonics. The saturation causes more current demand from the core which resultts in higher RMS values and more losses in the core i.e copper loss

Only 1 question per post will be asnwered please ,but I answered 3 here
