The climate on the northern tip of Darwin is very unstable. Prolonged winter with a short summer. Most of the water is locked up in the form of ice. There is only a short summer when some of the ice melts, providing usable water for both the photosynthesizers and the non-photosynthesizers. Would you expect the organisms you find here to be r-species or K-species? Explain (5 pts.and add bibliography)
Solution
The organisms that would be found here will be r-species.This is because the climate as mentioned is very unstable and r-species mostly live in unstable and unpredictable environment. They make full use of the limited favourable environmental conditions for their reproduction thus prodicung many offsprings that hardly reach maturity and therefore die.Only few survive to reach maturity.
