When an object touches the skin, the thigmoreceptors present in the inner linings of the skin cells receive this signs. These receptors are in direct communication with the afferent neuron endings which transmit this signal to the central sulcus of the brain till it reaches the primary somatosensory cortex. The neurons of this region perceive this signal and execute a response signal via the anterior and posterior thalamus by the means of variety of neurotransmitters and ions. This electro-chemical signal is transported via the efferent neurons to the skeleto-muscular system and then a physical response in produced such as removal of hand, shaking or jerking in respone to the nature of stimulus.
