Find a possible formula for the trigonometric function graph

Find a possible formula for the trigonometric function graphed below Use xlas the independent variable in your formula

Solution

The graph highest point is 4 and lowest point is -2. Which means 2a = 6

Means a = amplitude = 3

The graph looks like a sin function graph which is vertically upward.

The distance from point A to point B is 1.

hence 2pi/b = 1

b = 2pi

So, period is 2pi/b = 2pi/2pi = 1

Graph is vertically shifted upwards by 1 so, y = A sin(bx+c) + d , As there is no phase shift so, c= 0

Function is 3 sin (2pix) + 1
