Solve the following equation. (Enter your answers as a comma-separated list.)
a) 7-(6-2x)^2/3=3
Solution
a) 7 - (6-2x)^2/3 = 3
(6-2x)^2/3 = 4
take cube of both sides:
(6-2x)^2 = 4^3
(6-2x)^2 = 64
atking square root on both sides:
6 -2x = +/-8
2x = 6 - /+ 8
x = 7 , -1
b) sqrt(z+2) -2 = sqrt(z-6)
Taling square of both sides:
z+2 +4 - 4sqrt(z+2) = z-6
z +6 -4sqrt(z+2) = z-6
12 = 4sqrt(z+2)
3 = sqrt(z+2)
taking square of both sides:
9 = z+2
z = 7
