Identify the solution set of the quadratic inequality x2 2x

Identify the solution set of the quadratic inequality -x^2 - 2x + 3 lessthanorequalto 0 by inspecting its graph. a. [-3, 1] b. [-3, infinity) c. (-infinity, 1] d. [-3, 1] e. (-infinity, -3] [1, infinity)

Solution

From the graph we can say that the critical points are x=-3 and x=1. Here we have three regions (-inf,-3] , [-3,1],[1,inf)

if we check all these regions we get that the solution set is (-inf,-3]U [1,inf)
