A three-phase short transmission line having a per-phase impedance of (2 + j4) Ohm has equal line-to-linc receiving-end and sending-end voltages of 115 kV while supplying a load at 0.8 power factor leading. Calculate the power supplied by the line.

Solution

P=VsVcos(a-b)/z

a=power factor angle

b=impendnce angle

a=inverse cos(0.8)=36.36

b=angle(2+4i)=63.43

z=mag(2+4i)=4.472

p=(115*115*cos(36-63))/4.47*3

p=870mw
