The image formed by diverging lens is virtual ( that image can not be seen on screen but we can see) and always diminished.
a) Given that focal length of diverging lens is 8 cm and object is at 24cm , we treat object at far distance image properties are virtual, erected and smaller than object.
b) In this case object is at 6cm from lens below principal focus, now image size increased, magnification increased, but remaining properties same (virtual, erected and smaller than object).
Incase of diverging lens, object distance is decreased, the image distance is decreased and image size is increased. image is at object side.
