Write 1 sentence for each defining the meaning of the terms

Write 1 sentence for each defining the meaning of the terms \"forced precession\", \"free precession\" , \"nutation\", \"gyroscopic moment/force\", and \"stability of torque-free motion of a rigid body\"

Solution

Solution :

Forced precession :

The change in the orientation of any body which is subjected to external torque is called forced precession.

Free precession :

The change in the orientation without applying any external moment is called free precession.

Nutation:

It is the rocking motion in the axis of rotation of a large axially symmetric object.

Gyroscopic moment :

Gyroscopic moment is nothing but rate of change of angular momentum which is applied on the gyroscope.

Stability of torque free motion :

It basically tell how the body will be due to the free motion and how stable it will be when free motion is occuring on it.
