Sample size 400 sample mean 44 sample standard deviation

Sample size = 400; sample mean = 44; sample standard deviation = 16. What is the margin of error?

I don\'t understand this problem. Can you show me how to solve this problem. thanks

Solution

the formula for margin of error=critical value*standard error

the standard error is 16/sqrt(400)=16/20=0.8

now here basically sample mean is of now use. instead some confidence interval should be given

assuming the confidence interval to be 90% using Z table the critical value comes out to be 1.645 which is nothing but that value of a standard normal distribution under which 0.95 probability exists.

so margin of error is 0.8*1.645=1.316 [answer]

Sample size = 400; sample mean = 44; sample standard deviation = 16. What is the margin of error? I don\'t understand this problem. Can you show me how to solve
