3 Write the pointslope form of the eqauation of the line sat

3.) Write the point-slope form of the eqauation of the line satisfying the conditions. Then use the point-slope form of the equation to write the slope-intercept form of the equation.

slope = 5, passing through (-2,6)

Solution

Here the point is (x1, y1) = (-2, 6) and slope = m = 5

Point - Slope form of a line is y - y1 = m (x - x1)

Plug the values in this formula

y - 6 = 5 (x- (-2))

y - 6 = 5 (x+ 2)

y - 6 = 5x + 10

y = 5x + 10 + 6

y = 5x + 16 (y = mx + b)

Slope = 5 and y - intercept = 16

This is the slope - interecept form of a line.
