If you place this client on a 1,500 kcal-per-day diet and she exercises every day for 30 min at an intensity of 8.5 METs, how long will it take her to reach her target body weight? Does anyone have a formula for this?

Solution

YOu have not mentioned what is the target of the client.Please get back to me. The way to solve this is

7709 Kcal = 1 Kg (equivalent to ).

if she is doing exercise at the intensity of 8.5 MET for 30 min . It means that

1 kg wt loses 8.5Kcal in 1 hr

so , 1 kg wt loses (8.5/2)=4.25 Kcal in 30 min

148.6lbs= 67.4 kg

so,   67.4 kg wt loses (8.5/2)=4.25* 67.4 = (286.45) Kcal in 30 min.

so its like she is taking [1500-286.45] kcal per day = 1214 kcal in day which is equivalent to gaining 0.1574 kg of wt per day. So, I guess she wants to gain weight. You have to mention the inital wt as well.

======================

Let\'s do reverse calulation. So, she has to shed

160-148.6 =11.4 lbs=5.17 kg

now to shed 5.17 KG of weight, she has to comsume 7709 Kcal*5.17 = 39855.53 kcal

Now, she is taking 1,500 kcal per day. So, she has to do more exercise so that she can remove more than 1500 kcal of energy from exercise. Now, lets\'s see how much kcal does she lose in a day (in 30 min exercise)

consumption of energy(in kcal)= (MET of activity x body weight(kg)/60) x Time of the activity (min)

= 8.5 * 72.57* 30/60 =308.4225 kcal which is less than 1500 kcal. So she will be gaining wt.

If you place this client on a 1,500 kcal-per-day diet and she exercises every day for 30 min at an intensity of 8.5 METs, how long will it take her to reach her
