In a sample of 20 men the mean height was 189 cm, and a sample of 35 women the mean height was 151 cm. What is the mean height for both samples together?

Solution

mean = total sum/total observation.

for men mean height the total sum will be 20*189 = 3780

for women mean height total sum will be 35*151 = 5285

now to calculate mean of both together we have to take the total sum that will be 9065

mean will be 9065/55 = 164.81
