4.5% by weight means that each 100 kg of water will carry 4.5 kg of substance.

unit weight of water = 1000 kg/m3

so volume of 100 kg of water = 100/1000 = 0.1 m3

that means 0.1 m3 carries 4.5 kg of substance, then 1 m3 will carry = 4.5/0.1 = 45 kg per m3.

5.25% of chlorine by weight means that each 100 gm of water carries 5.25 gm of chlorine.

unit weight of water = 1000 kg/m3 = 1kg/Litres = 1000 g/Litres

volume of 100 gm of water = 100/1000 litres = 0.1 Litres.

so one litre of water will carry 5.25 /0.1 gm of chlorine= 52.5 gm/Litres = 52500 mg/L

So chlorine concentration is 52500 mg/L in water.
