Please help with this average velocity problem also finding

Please help with this average velocity problem, also finding limit and possible interpretations.

Please be detailed in your solution, I need help with all parts of this question. Thank you!

Solution

y = 16x^2

velocity : dy/dx = 32x

a) Avg velocity x = 2 to x = 3 seconds

y1 = 16(2)^2 = 64 ft ; y2 = 16(3)^2 = 144 ft

Avg velocity x = 2 to x = 3 seconds = ( y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) = ( 144 - 64)/(3 -2) = 80 ft/sec

b) Avg velocity from x = 2 sec . to x = 2 + h sec.

Avg. vel = (16(2+h)^2 - 16(4) )/( 2 +h - 2)

= [ 16( 4 +h^2 + 4h - 64 ]/h

= ( 16h^2 +64h)/h

= 16h + 64

C) As h ---> 0 , Avg velocity = 16*0 + 64 = 64 ft/sec

D) We can as h ---> 0 Avg velocity = derivative velocity = 32*2 = 64 ft/sec
