Conflict management - avoidance strategy,When is it appropriate to use an avoidance strategy? provide an example.
Solution
Avoidance strategy in conflict management is appropriate when it helps in reducing the conflict and delay its negative effect for a period of time. More specifically, following circumstances endorse the use of avoidance strategy of conflict management.
One example of applying avoidance strategy is the case of “removal of that person or employee who is popular but he/she is not producing enough”. In this case, new and productive employee is hired to avoid the confrontation with the employee union.
Another example is the “building of common consensus upon a particular issue” that has created a chaos between management and employees. Here, avoidance strategy is employed to bring focus upon other important issues. Later on, consensus is built upon contentious issue, slowly and steadily.
