The perimeter of a triangle is 75 cm. If the lengths of the sides of the triangle are consecutive odd integers, find the length of each side.

Solution

Let the sides of the triangle be a,b c

Then its perimeter is a+b+c

Given that perimeter is 75 cms

Also the sides are consecutive odd numbers therefore if one side of the triangle is length a cms then the other two sides are a+2,a+4

Therefore we have

a+a+2+a+4=75

3a+6=75

3a=69

a=23 cms

Therefore the other two sides will be 25 and 27

Hence the lenght of three sides of the triangle are 23 cms,25cms ,27 cms
