DBMS stands for database management system which adheres to set of rules that all database systems such as Microsoft sql server,Oracle database systems.It helps in managing set of databases such as creating,deleting or editing the database.It has a query processor which is used for processing all the queries on the data in the optimized way and storage engine which takes care of the storage of all the data files.

Database is just a collection of tables which is used to model the entities in a real world and can be stored as a relation(table) in a database.

Surrogate Key:

Surrogate Key are the keys which can be used to uniquely identify a record in a table.

It is usually system generated and does not have any relation to the business concept which we are trying to model It just helps in identifying the unique row in a table.Most of the times columns used for surrogate key is column with auto increment option.
