This system is single suct system. Single duct system is well effective in given desighn.

Single duct system here, provide efficient working system, reduce losses, as the losses are major problem in duct desighn. This system is not a more complex to use dual duct desighn. Dual duct desighn used where complex network of air distribution required with different load requirement.

Yes, this system used VAV(Variable air volume system).

Because VAV system used for multiple terminal or multiple zone. And

1) VAV system is more precise temparature control than on-off control system.

2) It provide energy saving due to speed changes of fan.

3) Modulation of compressor speed reduce wear and tear of compressor.

4) Reduce air flow increases contact time with the coil leading to greater dehumidification.

When VAV is used for multiple terminal, A VAV box with damper is used.When space temparature is achieved damper close to reduse air flow.Fan maintain same static pressure but reduse flow by reducing speed. When space temparature increases, damper opens, fan speed increases and air flow increase.
