A cable is attached to a bracket at A as shown in E7.4.2. the bracket is bonded to the wall with an adhesive. If the bracket will break away from the wall at this adhesive interface when the tension force at the interface is greater than 1000N or the shear force at the interface is greater than 950 N, determine whether the bracket will detach from the wall when loaded by the weight of the strut and the 750-N load.

Answer: Ax = 1468 N ; Ay = 847 N. Note that these are the magnitudes of the answer

MPORTANT: The weight of the strut: 50kg

VERY IMPORTANT: There is an error. The length of the cable connecting Point A to Point B is 653mm, NOT 400mm.

Please include a free body diagram.

The structure is in equilibrium. Please solve the equation by using ?Fx = 0 and ?Fy = 0

You have been given the answer. Please use the instructions given to provide the work on how to get to the answer.

Solution

Following are the answers of the drawn figure.

The horizontal component is 1468 kn while the vertical component is 848 kn.
