Consider the following equation. 4x- 4 Step 2 of 2: Find the equation of the line which passes through the point (1 13) and is perpendicular to the given line. Express your answer in slope-intercept form. Simplify your answer.

Solution

(4x+4y)/3=(3x-4)/6

24x+24y=9x-12

15x+12=24y

y=5x/8 + 1/2

Slope of this line is 5/8

Therefore slope of line perpendicular to this line is -8/5

And the perpendicular line passes through (1,-13)

Point slope form is

y=y1=m(x-x1)

y+13=-8/5(x-1)

5y+65=-8x+8

5y= -8x -57

y= -8x/5 -57/5

 Consider the following equation. 4x- 4 Step 2 of 2: Find the equation of the line which passes through the point (1 13) and is perpendicular to the given line.
