How to go from ()1.5+j2.6)/(2+j) to 1.12+j0.74? I dom\'t understand the work. Please see the problem. (6-j8 + 1.5 + j2.6/2 + j) (6 - j8 + 1.12 + j0.74)

Solution

(1.5 + j2.6)/(2 +j)

rationalise den. by multiplying both num and den. by conjugate of den.

i.e. 2-j

(1.5 + j2.6)(2-j)/(2 +j)(2-j) = (3 -1.5j +5.2j +2.6)/(5) { (2 +j)(2-j) = 4 -(-1) = 5 }

= ( 5.6 +3.7j)/(5)

= 5.6/5 + (3.7/5)j

=1.12 +j0.74
