For the equation YmX C Ywhat we are trying to find mslope C

For the equation Y=mX + C

Y=what we are trying to find

m=slope

C= Y-intercept

1. In the equation Y = mX + C, if C= 0, then:

A. The line of best fit intercepts the Y-axis above the Y-axis.

B. The line of best fit intercepts the X-axis to the right of the Y-axis.

C. The line of best fit intercepts the origin.

D. The line of best fit does not intercept either the Y- or X-axis.

2. In the same equation, if m = –2, then:

A. There is a perfect relationship between X and Y.

B. There is a positive relationship between X and Y.

C. There is no relationship between X and Y.

D. There is a negative relationship between the two variables.

3. If m = 0, then when:

A. X increases, Y remains constant.

B. Y increases, X increases.

C. X decreases, Y decreases.

D. X increases, Y decreases.

For Question 1 I chose D since C=0 and that means the Y-intercept is zero so it wouldnt intercept at Y. For question #2 i chose D. because -2 means a negative relationship. I would like to know if I am correct on those and would like help with the answer to #3. Thank you!

Solution

1. If C=0 , then line will not intercept the Y-axis. So option D is correct.

2. negative slope shows that as x increases, Y decreases. So it shows a negtaive raltionship. Hence, option D is correct.

3.

If m=0 the line will be

y=0+c=c

That is change in X does not effect Y. Y remains constant. Hence, option A is correct.

For the equation Y=mX + C Y=what we are trying to find m=slope C= Y-intercept 1. In the equation Y = mX + C, if C= 0, then: A. The line of best fit intercepts t
