What effect might changes in the pH of body fluids or body temperature that accompany illness have on cells? Respond to this post and to, at least, 1 other student\'s post

Solution

These is due to the disturbance of homeostatis of the body due to which the cells get affected.

Homeostatis is the method of maintaining costant stable internanal conditions that is temperature , pH, which is optimum for the cells to functions. An increase or decrease in the above factor leads to the change in homeostatis thus disturbing the metabolic process of the cells due to which the illness occurs.

for eg different body fluids works at different pH such as the arterial blood has pH of 7.4 , intercellular fluid has a pH of 7 ans interstitial fluid and venous blood has pH of 7.35. when this pH falls below the optimum pH value body suffers from acidosis and if it increases it suffers from allkalosis. for exmple the blood acidosis alters the function omuscle cell and causes muscle los and degeneration.

Same is with the temperature of the body as the body has its own particular temperature to maintain homeostatis for eg the normal human body temperature is 37degree celcius if it raise to suppose 100 degree celcius the cells metabolic process is altered thus causing illness.
