The drugs that are used in enhancing GI motility are metoclopramide ,bethanechol , domperidone, cisapride, Mosapride citrate, Renzapride..They enhance the peristalic contraction of the esophaegal body, increase the tone of lower esophageal sphincter and stimulate gastric motor activity. Bethanechol stimulates the muscarine receptors of gastrointestinal smooth muscles, metoclopramide helps in incresing the release of acetylcholine.cisapride is a serotonin active agent and it enhanced antroduodenal coordination and gastric emptying,it stimulates propulsive motility pattern in human jejunum, and also increase lower esophageal sphincter pressure.
