Discuss the differences in the FITT principal for flexibility, strength and endurance. Why are they different?
Solution
The differences are as follows: FIIT stands for :Flexibility,Intensity,Time and Type of exercises.
F: For flexibility, the frequency recommended for most adults is 2-3 days minimum per week. wheras for strength the frequency recommended is 2-3 days per week with 48 hours of gap in between whereas for endurance the frequency id almost everyday in a week or at least 5 days a week.
I: For flexibility, the intensity should be such that there could be slight discomfort but that should not be unbearable. whereas for strength, the last repitition maximum should be difficult to perform but not impossible whereas for endurance both moderate and vigorous intensities are required.
T: For flexibility, time is 10 minutes per day whereas for strength it is 20-60 minutes per day whereas for endurance it is 30 minutes per day.
T: For flexibility type is static or dynamic whereas for strength it involves the exercises of the muscles whereas for endurance the type is aerobic.
They are different because for each type of exercise regime is based on the principles of overload and progression that our heart and muscles can bear.Accordingly for each exercise regime i.e for heart and muscles, the FIIT principles will vary.
