Explain how molecular markers and the concept of linkage are

Explain how molecular markers and the concept of linkage are used to determine the approximate genomic location of disease-causing mutations.

Solution

DNA markers such as STR (short tendem repeats) and VNTR (variable number tendem repeats) are very useful for the determination of genomic location of disease causing mutations.

Gene linkage also helpful in identification of genomes of disease causing mutation.

Disease causing mutation\'s gene sequence can be transcribed in to another DNA sequence and them small molecular markers and DNA markers can be prepared for the detection of those mutations.

Same as linkage concept also play a key role in identification of disease causing mutations.
