Substitution equation

How do I solve 3y=2x-6
5x-4y=1
Substitution equation

5x-4y=1
Substitution equation

Solution

there are two equations

3y=2x-6....(1) and 5x-4y=1...(2)

from equation 1 we have y=2x/3-2

replacing the value of y is equation (2)

5x-4*[2x/3-2]=1

or, 5x-8x/3+8=1

or,7x/3=-7

or, x=-7*3/7=-3

so y=2*(-3)/3-2 =-4

hence the solution is x=-3 and y=-4 [answer]
