If fx 2x 5 and gx 3x 2 what are the coordinates of the p

If f(x) = 2x - 5, and g(x) = 3x + 2, what are the coordinates of the point at which f(x) intersects g(x)?

Solution

For F(x) and g(x) to intersect at any point, the values at that point for both function will be equal.

Thus, f(x) = g(x)

or 2x - 5 = 3x + 2

or x = -7

and y= f(x) =g(x) = -19

So the coordinate of the intersection point is (-7,-19)
