Problems and challenges of deforestation without afforestation: Effects on woodwork teachers and the craftsmen for national development.
Solution
Deforestation is the act of clearing the forests on the Earth on a huge scale. This also results in the damage to the land. Forests cover around 30% of the world\'s land area and are a huge source of oxygen and the habitat for many variety of animals. There have been cases of severe forests depletion due to deforestation. The Amazon rainforest has declined sharply over the past half a century.
The biggest reason behind agriculture is agriculture. The present population of the world is around 7 billion people and in order to fulfill the tremendous hunger of these many people, there is a need of not only food resources but also land for irrigation. This land is mostly made by cutting off the trees and hence deforestation occurs on a massive scale.
In tropical climates, small farmers will cut off trees and burn them in a process known as slash and burn agriculture. Repeated instances of this technique may render the land barren over a period of years. Deforestation may even occur unintentionally like in the case of wildfires.
Deforestation has a huge negative impact on the environment. 80% of Earth\'s land animals live in forests and hence deforestation may ruin their homes. Deforestation may also result in climate change. Due to the dense canopy of the trees, the sunlight is blocked to the soil at the base of the trees and hence this soil maintains its moisture. Due to the deforestation, the soil is not able to hold moisture anymore resulting in a slow process of desertification. Trees have a huge role in absorbing the greenhouse gases that result in global warming. More is the deforestation, fewer would be the forests and hence more amount of greenhouse gases would enter the atmosphere and hence ultimately result in severe and rapid increase in global warming.
If there is no afforestation, the resulting decline in the forests around the world may result in a calamity. There need to be stricter laws and regulations to avoid this rapid deforestation.
A logical solution to the grave situation would be to eliminate the clear-cutting to make sure the forest environments remain intact. The cutting which still occurs should be balanced by planting trees so that the older felled trees are compensated. This way the effect on the woodwork teachers and the craftsmen also remain minimal.
Also, there need to be a widespread awareness campaign amoung the various stakeholders of the society to urge them to avoid the usage of timber of other such components keeping in mind the serious ramnifications of deforestations. This will result in the newer generation to look for alternatives to timber and wood and hence result in the long term environmental peace for our next generations.
