Solution
Organ transplantation is the replacement of a host\'s dysfunctional tissue with a healthy tissue from another organism (host). Since the transplanted organ is from another (foreign) organism, the host\'s immune system reacts to the foreign antigens. This immunological response is a hypersensitivity response called Transplant Rejection.
During a Tissue Transplant, the transplant rejection is a T-Cell mediated response against foreign Major Histocompatibility Complex in the donated organ. The Major Histocompatibility Complex are a group of genes that code for proteins found on the surfaces of the donated tissue that helps the immune system to recognize the foreign substances. It usualy takes around weeks to months. Therefore, a tissue transplant rejection is a Type IV hypersensitivity reaction.
