Given below are descriptions of different parts of the lathe machine, give the appropriate names of each description as indicated below 5 1 1 The base that supports the working parts of the lathe 5 1 2 The component that carries the head spindle along with the entire driving mechanism of a lathe machine 5 1.3 The lathe part that holds and support the work piece to center from the chuck 5 1 4 It carries the crossfeed slide and the compound rest which in turn carries the cutting tool in the toolpost 5 1 5 It transmits power to the apron to drive the longitudinal feed and crossfeed mechanisms 5 1 6 A machine part that is used to lock the jaws that hold the workpiece tight during machining process 5 1 7 The chuck jaws that hold cylindrical and hexagonal workpiece during machining operations. 5 1 8 Heavy chuck jaws that hold the workpiece with complicated shape during machining operations 5 2 Discuss THREE internal operations of the lathe machines 5 3 Discuss the pnmary purpose of the identified parts of the centre lathe machine 5 3 1 Headstock 53 2 Chuck key
5.1.1- lathe bed
5.1.2- head stock
5.1.3-jaws
5.1.4- apron
5.1.5-feed rod
5.1.6- chuck key
5.1.7-self centring or three jaw chuck
5.1.8-four jaw independent chuck
5.2- the three internal operations on lathe are :
-boring
-broaching
-drilling
5.3.1- Head stock-The head stock is the part of the lathe which serves as a housing for the driving pulleys and back gears, provides bearing for the machine spindle and keeps the latter in alignment with the bed. It is a fixed part which will present on the left side of the lathe bed. Head stock will consists of a hollow spindle and drives unit like main spindle, feed reverse lever, live center cone pulley etc., The tapered bar with pointed or projected end is going to grip the work piece between two centers of lathe bed.
5.3.2- Chuck key- it helps to loosened or tighten the jaws of the chuck.
