Describe unique characteristics of agarose used in electrophoresis

Agarose used in gel electrophoresis forms a limiting matrix, i.e. of different pore size. When electricity is applied, the DNA loaded onto gels allows it to move through different pores at different speed based on its size in the same time period. This results in separation of DNA strands.
