write a conclusion for Test Method for Compressive Strength
write a conclusion for Test Method for Compressive Strength of Hydraulic Cement Mortars (Using 2-in. or [50-mm] Cube Specimens) experiment describing results of this experiment and the expected ideal result of this experiment. Then compare them with recommendation and conclusion.
Solution
Ideal Conclusion for test method for compressive strength of hydraulic cement mortars Using (2-in or (50 mm) cube specimens) are as follows -
1. The compressive strength as computed by = Compressive force per unit area (Fm= P/A)
~ these precision standards to be followed as stated below
Test age , Days Coefficient of variation in 1s% Acceptable range of Test Results d2s %
Portland cement
constant w/c ratio
single lab: 3 4 11.3
7 3.6 10.2
avg ---- 3.8 ----- 10.7
Multi lab 3 6.8 19.2
7 6.4 18.1
avg --- 6.6 --- 18.7
Blended cement
constant flow mortar
single lab 3 4 11.3
7 3.8 10.7
avg ----- 3.8 ---- 10.7
Multi lab 3 7.8 22.1
7 7.6 21.5
----- 7.6 ---- 21.5
Masonry Cements
Constant flow mortar:
Single-lab 7 7.9 22.3
28 7.5 21.2
avg ----- 7.7 ---- 21.8
Multi-lab 7 11.8 33.4
28 12.0 33.9
avg ----- 11.9 --- 33.7
As recommended the below statements should be abided
~the flow desired is to the nearest of 1%, and water to be used to the nearest 0.1% .
~ avg compressive strengths of all specimen from the same sample shall be reported to the nearest 10psi i.e 0.1 Mpa
~ Practical Results
though there are many ways reasons because of which deviation comes but mainly covered are -
- faulty specimens
- the probability of meeting the desired conditions vary mainly because at sites we don\'t test the speciemens as per specified environmental exposure conditions
- requirements , procedures not followed as required e.g improper centering of specimens
Conclusion-
~ desired strength values depend upon proper observance of all of the specified requirements and procedures
~ if expected results are not met than one should retest it, till getting the desired results
