Hi, I was wondering if I could get help with the following word problem. Mulder and Scully are driving to Georgia to investigate \"Bug Blue\", a giant reptile reported in one of the local lakes. Mulder leaves the office at 8:30 a.m. averaging 65 mph. Scully leaves at 9:00 a.m. averaging 68 mph. At what time will Scully catch up with Mulder? I am having trouble setting up my equation.

Solution
Lets assume after x hrs when Mulder starts , Scully catches up with Mulder
So, Mulder travels with 65 mpph and starts at 8.30 am
Mulder travels 65* miles in x hrs.
Scully travesl with 68 mph and starts at 9.00 am i.e. 0.5 hr later than Mulder
So, Scully travles 68(x -0.5) miles
When they meets: 68( x-0.5) = 65x
3x = 34
x= 34/3 hrs = 11hrs 20 min.
So, Scully catches up with Mulder at 9.00am + 11hrs 20 min = 7.50 pm
