A jar contains 4 red marbles, 12 blue marbles and 6 green marbles. Three marbles are selected at random, with each marble being set aside after selection. What is the probability that at least 1 red marble is drawn?

a. 0.470 b. 0.338 c. 0.632 d. 0.530 e. 0.701

Solution

here total we have 22 marbels

probability of getting red marbles = 4/22 =0.181

probability not getting red = 0.819

now we have to find the probability of at least 1 in 3 marbles = 1 - probability of not getting any red

probability of not getting any red = 3C3*(0.272)^0*(0.819)^3 = 0.530

HENCE THE PROBABILITY OF ATLEAST ONE RED = 1 - 0.530 = 0.470

HENCE OPTION A IS RIGHT.
