Will a newly installed polished brass plate provide better heat transfer than an old pitted brass plate when used for pool boiling of water in the nucleate boiling regime?

Heat transfer depends on the thermal conductivity of the material, the heat transfer co-efficient and many other factors.

For a pitted surface, there will be reduced thermal conductivity and hence less heat transfer. Relatively, a polished surface will have higher value of thermal conductivity and hence more heat transfer.
