What is the cardinality of each A YnA B EM C OuP D A Water W
What is the cardinality of each:
A.) YnA
B.) E-M
C.) OuP
D.) A\'
| Water (W) | Air (A) | Population (P) | Energy (E) | |
| (Y) Young | 90 | 60 | 40 | 20 |
| (M) Middle | 110 | 70 | 10 | 40 |
| (O) Old | 30 | 100 | 5 | 25 |
Solution
Cardinality of a set is the total number of elements in that set. So if S is a set its cardinatilty is represented as n(S).
Now from table , it is cleared that YnA represents total youngs that are related to A and this value is given 60, so cardinality of YnA is 60.
Similarly E-M represents the total numbers of Middles, having energy (E) and this is the value that is in second row and fourth column i.e. 40 so cardinality of E-M is 40.
Accordingly OuP represents total olds having population feature and that is the value in third row and third column i.e. 5
so cardinality of OUP is 5.
And lastly A` represents total items that are not in A. So here the total of all the values that are not in Air(A) column be (90+110+30+40+10+5+20+40+25) = 370
So cardinality of A`= 370
