What are some of the more bitter marketing campaigns among rival brands that you can recall? Give specific details of the campaign. What was said or done?

Marketing strategy is one of the most important aspects of a business today and it has proved that without proper marketing it is difficult for an organization or business to sustain in the market because competition level is too high in any field hence marketing needs to be used in order to gain a competitive advantage over the competitors. In the last decade we have witnessed few intense rivalry among brands and there were even advertisements where the organizations made the other look bad and smaller. This has been witnessed quite a few times and that too between quite a few brands. The most interesting advertisement that I remember was the Samsung rivalry with Apple during the Launch of the Galaxy S II smartphone when it was displayed that Apple users queued up for the latest iPhone and some of them were checking the new Samsung phone which were possessed by few people who were passing the queue. Samsung went ahead to compare by saying that the iPhones are obsolete with small screen size and many other features. There are other examples too like the PlayStation4 and XBOX clash that happened when both tried to go beyond their competitors by displaying that their rival is lagging behind in various aspects.

The Samsung Apple advertisement cannot be called as a clash in this context because Apple never responded back with something that will prove that Samsung is way behind but Samsung did it to overpower Apple and that too quite a few times. In this context I believe that Apple just ignored the situation because they thought that Samsung is aware that Apple is better and that is the reason they are using Apple in their campaign. I would like to add that Samsung tried their best to penetrate the Loyal customer base of Apple by showcasing the better features of Samsung but again Apple was did not display any reaction and this attitude of Apple made it look way superior in their approach and their high confidence on themselves.

The Strategy was used effectively here in this context but again it cannot be determined that did it actually affected the market of Apple or not because even today there are people who will prefer Apple over Samsung and there are even Samsung users who feel that in some aspects Apple is far ahead than Samsung. The market perception regarding Samsung changed because it was posing strict competition to Apple but the perception regarding Apple I guess did not change as it is still one of the successful players in the market.
