Fake sale or sale of fake products are very common in every country and even UAE is not is not an exemption among this. There had been a lot of fake products sale and consumers were really unhappy with it. In the recent days consumers started complaining in the civil court. There have been a numerous consumer protection related issues reported in the media and law has taken some measures on this issue. Federal authorities have taken some steps to promote the consumers from fake sales and Dubai Economic department has created a website to report all the issues if the consumers may come across.

Also the government also stepped up with an implementation of the law making sure that if anyone found to be a fraud they will be in the jail for 2years and will have to pay a fine of DH 250,000. The reason it was built for the reason to make sure that market is transparent and both sellers and buys enjoy the transactions in the market.

The government also have taken some measures\\method to stand against the fake sales, they are,

The business community itself was enforced to start achieving the consumer protection by helping them in need and standing against the fake products selling. Also the sellers itself started identifying the defective goods and removing them from selling, stopping the unfair trading and stopping from doing it, withdraw unsafe products from being offered.

The government also helped consumers from starting an association themselves and made them start identifying the unfair trade practises, lack of proper services, improper services in airline, overcharging, adulteration, lack of water supply. All these kinds of unfair services were started getting notified to the consumer court.

Also the government started ensuring the consumers by introducing several acts to protect the unfair trade from consumers, they are

Essential commodities act which aims at protecting the production, supply and demand and prices of the products

Drug and cosmetics act was brought in to seek the purity and quality in drugs and cosmetics

Standard of weights and measures act was brought in which aims at protecting the consumers from measurement and right weight of the product.

It becomes utmost important to protect and balance the interest of the consumers from fake selling else consumers may lose trust on the government. To protect the interest of the consumers certain things needs to be brought in place

The market needs to provide the consumers with all the information about the product like quality, price and other marketing facilities because many customers buy the product without evening having the knowledge of it and may get fake products

The monopoly should be avoided and each seller should have room for selling. When there is a monopoly there are many chances that seller will start selling unsafe products and consumers with no choice will have to buy the same since there would be no other seller.

The markets are usually over flooded with products. Consumers need to me made aware of hazardous products. This may even risk the life of consumers

When any seller is advertising about their products they should be made aware of what needs to be advertised and they need to make sure of appropriate information

Also government should enforce the most basic rights of consumers and they should not ignorant on it.

After all the research it is understood that fake selling is very viral and many consumers were affected by it. The government as well as the consumers should work together to eliminate so called “fake selling”. Each consumer should know what are their basic rights and what product should be purchased and what not. At the same time government should give strict information to all the sellers and create that scare of impact of selling unauthorized goods and what will happen with that.
