Social issues The following questions are intended as a guide to the ethical/social/legal issues associated with the field of computing. The goal is not merely to answer these questions. You should also consider why you answered as you did and whether your justifications are consistent from one question to the next. Suppose computer animation reaches the point that real actors are no longer needed in the motion picture and television industries. What would the consequences be? What would be the ripple effect of no longer having \"movie star\"? With the development of digital cameras and related software, the ability to alter or fabricate photographs has been placed within the capabilities of the general public. What changes will this bring to society? What ethical and legal issues could arise? To what extent should photographs be owned? Suppose a person place his or her photographs on a website and someone else downloads that photographs, altered version. What recourse should the subject of the photograph have? To what extent is a programmer who helps develop a violent video game responsible for any consequences of that game? Should children\'s access to video games be restricted? If so, how and whom? What about other groups in society, such as convicted criminals?

Solution

1)development in any field is quite general.if there exists a stage where MOVIE STARS are no longer needed then it would be neighther good nor bad to accept.Development in computer science creates many job oppurtunities as well as reduces oppurtunities for some.So this things has its own pros and cons.

2)Alterating or Fabricating something leads to bad issues now or in near future. The ethical issues which arised due to the fabrication of a digital image by public is morphing or modifying the image. If this is done at a higher level it creates many problems and leads to many legal issues.Over the years many cyber laws have been implemented to reduce such fabrication of images.

3)A person should restrict the availability of his/her photographs to some specific extent. He must make it available for only the people he trusts. If some one downloads his/her image and alters it and circulates it then he/she must provide this information to the concerned authorities and then look to it seriously.

4)The programmer is only partially responsible .He doesnt make it available to all the person. He just develops it. The person using it should have consciece about the usage.Cildren who are undergae(varies in different countries) must not be allowed to play such violent games. This can be generally done by linking the purchase to a social security number. If it is linked with social security number then convicted criminals can also be restricted the usage of it.
