Solution

Rx = 423 cos 0 + 590 cos 48

Rx = 817.787

Ry = 423 sin 0 + 590 sin 48

Ry = 438.455

R = sqrt ( 817.787^2 + 438.455^2 )

R = 927.91

therefore, magnitude of resultant force is 928 N

angle = tan^-1 ( 438.455 / 817.787)

= 28.198 degrees
