Roadrailers are highway trailers that are equipped to be used in intermodal service of railroad. The first advantage is that roadrailers can be used without the need of using trailer flatcars. Roadrailers can be used directly behind passenger or freight equipment. Secondly using roadrailer is better than a box car as the movement is faster and this makes the transit time starting from the dock and ending at the dock (point to point) more consistent.
